Staying in Muzdalifah is among the obligatory rituals of the hajj pilgrimage. Every pilgrim who’ve arrived in Makkah for the holy rituals traveling through hajj packages 2022 UK should stay in Muzdalifah. Here’s what happens in Muzdalifah during Hajj.
Arrival in Muzdalifah.
On the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, pilgrims travel to Muzdalifah where they will stay under the night sky. There are no tents or other accommodation facilities available here because pilgrims are required to spend the night under clear skies. The boundaries for the region of Muzdalifah are indicated by large purple signposts. There’s also a mosque there, also known as ‘Mashar-al-Haram’ which is on the site of what used to be a small mountain.
Qasr Prayer.
The obligatory prayers of Maghrib and Isha, in the form of Qasr prayer, will be performed together at the time of Isha in Muzdalifah. If a pilgrim has arrived in Muzdalifah early, then he/she must wait until the time of Isha comes in before one can perform the prayers.
Collecting Pebbles for Rami ritual.
1.Every pilgrim is required to collect a total of 49 pebbles to perform Rami-al-Jamarat over the next three days. The breakdown of these pebbles is as follows:
•7 for the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah. •21 for the 11th of Dhul-Hijjah. •21 for the 12th of Dhul-Hijjah.
However, it’s advised that one picks up a further 21 pebbles (as a precautionary measure) to bring your total up to 70 pebbles. This is because of the reason that when you’re throwing the pebbles at the Jamarat, you may miss the target or some pebbles may be lost. So, it’s better to have some extra pebbles left to make up for the missed targets.
2.It is also advised that pebbles should be collected from a clean surface and they should be about the size of a pea.
Spending the night.
There are two things that you can do during the night while your stay in Muzdalifah. 1.Ibadah.
Spending the night in worship of Allah Almighty and supplicating is a recommended act because it remains full of blessings. Therefore, one must spend much of his/her time in Dhikr and prayers.
2.Resting.
In order to be able to perform the next day’s rituals, get some well-needed rest as well because that was the practice of Rasulullah (SAWW).
So, pilgrims should spend the night in prayers as well as get some rest.
Fajar Salah and Wuqoof. It is a Sunnah act to perform Fajar Salah at the earliest part of dawn in Muzdalifah. It is also among the Sunnah acts to perform Wuqoof in Muzdalifah after Fajar Salah as well even if it’s for a moment. Dua should be made by a pilgrim in the same manner as did in Arafat i.e., standing and facing the Qibla.
Leaving for Mina. It’s advised that a pilgrim leaves Muzdalifah soon after doing the Wuqoof and making supplications. It is the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (SAWW) to leave the boundary of Muzdalifah before sunrise. These are some of the significant acts that pilgrims perform in Muzdalifah during Hajj.
